I have 2 leightronix controllers for sony DVD players, a MiniTpro and 1 Sony DVD player I would be willing to let go of cheap. Let me know if you are interested in any or all.

Jim, I agree with you. In fact we still have one we picked up on ebay for $300 as a backup. They are solid and affordable systems for small stations that play fewer programs. It is limited to 8 DVD players. We ran 8 SVHS players, 6 DVD players, and the satellite and bb and it was not fun to program and mistakes are easy to make by new staff.

I understand the demands of larger systems, but the Mini-T is great for smaller systems like Rifle. A Princeton server is our entire capital and supplies budget.

I think that Longmont is using the Nexus box too. Maybe you guys could share notes on how best to use it.

We use a mac mini w/ keynote for our BB. It looks great and is easy to use. People can just email PowerPoint slides or Keynote slides and we drop em in. Downside is it plays on a loop and you can't schedule specific slides. If anyone is using the TelVue stuff please tell us how you like it. From what I have seen I'm not that impressed. Most of the built in stuff I've seen on the different servers looks clunky to me.

As for the server I am pretty happy overall. Anything is better than the Mini T we had. Being able to access the server from anywhere, even Mexico, and an easy user interface is great and the generated schedule for our web page is a nice feature. It lacks a variety of overlays they promised, but if you know html and flash you can create simple ones with your bug, etc. Customer service is quick to fix the few problems we have had. We did have a complete crash because of a power outage and the drives had to be sent back to be rebuilt, but we lost no data or programs. Ours ran about 8K with a 4x4 router.

I wish we had access to a topic like this before we bought our server. It is a Leightronix Nexus box. The hardware has not crashed once in year. However our LaCie hard drive did after a few months. I don't blame the server. But the huge drawback the assbackwards software. It seems to have been written only by people who have never had to use it. I could go on for a while about all of the deficiencies. The big issues are that you can't do things globally, there are character limits on everything you type into it, the schedule it spits out is an unformatted Excel file. To create slides they have a sluggish web interface that takes up 150megs of memory on your browser. The formatting changes when you hit save. If we ever get a chance to jump ship on this company I would do it in a second. $8000 we paid. I didn't want to get started on this, but I can't help myself.

I hope someone from Longmont joins, I know they are using something different. It sounded like a complicated system and they have no staff!
